What is the theme of the 2025 Met Gala?
In October, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced its spring exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,” the exhibition is organized into 12 sections, each representing a defining characteristic of dandy style .
"Superfine" will feature clothing, paintings, photographs, etc., about black dandies from the 18th century to the present day.
St.ed. Black Dandyism is a style that began in 18th-century Europe and continues today in cities such as London, New York, and Paris; it is a distinctive style that focuses on the elegance of men's clothing and uses fashion to challenge racial and gender norms. A dandy is a man who places great importance on style, personal grooming, and sophistication. Historically, dandies dressed like aristocrats, even if they were not born wealthy.

For 2025, the names chosen are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and (of course) Anna Wintour.
