Hard times for a middle-aged French woman who was robbed of $850,000, tricked into thinking she was talking to Brad Pitt, fooled by doctored images of the actor.
53-year-old Anne, married to a millionaire at the time, was scammed in 2023. At one point she sent a large sum of money to the scammer, who claimed to be Brad Pitt and needed money for cancer treatment.
How did he find all that money to send to the 'actor'?
Oh, just through her divorce settlement after leaving her millionaire husband for her fake movie star, according to French network BFM TV.
The fake Brad told her he couldn't use his money because he was involved in a divorce from Angelina Jolie. Anne's flirtation with the fake Pitt began on Facebook, where the impostor initially sent photos pretending to be the actor's mother. A month later, "Pitt" himself slipped into her messages, sparking a whirlwind "romance" that included marriage proposals and pleas for her to leave her millionaire husband.
There were red flags from the start — she was only sending fake texts to Brad because he was "too busy" to call. But with various romance scams on the rise, it's easy to see how vulnerable people can easily fall for them.
She finally understood the situation after seeing a photo of the real Brad Pitt out with his current girlfriend, Ines de Ramon.
Anne filed a complaint in 2024 and has since been receiving treatment at a clinic for severe depression. Police have yet to track down the fraudster.
