Billie Eilish: "Social networks are my cigarettes"

The singer Billie Eilish has expressed that her relationship with social networks is problematic, comparing it to addiction to cigarettes. In an interview with Complex, she explained that despite trying to distance herself from platforms like Instagram and TikTok, she finds it hard to stay away, especially when she's on tour.

"I've been away from Instagram and TikTok for a few months, which has been great."

However, while promoting her latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, her need to connect with her fans made her return to using these platforms.

“I like to see the videos from the concerts, the way people feel about the show. If something seems wrong, I want to fix it. But when I go online for this purpose, I am eventually drawn back. Then everything goes wrong and I get stuck," she said.

Despite the challenges, Eilish also spoke about the positive sides of social media, such as the question-and-answer 'sessions' she holds with her fans.

Her relationship with social networks is not something new. In a previous interview with Stormzy for iD magazine, she stated that she feels tired of the virtual world.

"I don't always want to share personal details of my life, but at the same time I want people to feel heard and understood if they have experienced things similar to me," she added.
