Anna Kendrick has found it "very difficult" to understand that she was in an abusive relationship. The 39-year-old actress was in an abusive relationship for seven years - but Kendrick admitted that for a long time she struggled to identify the truth about her ex-partner.

During an appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Kendrick confessed, "I was reading all the articles and I was like, 'This doesn't seem... some of these things seem like what they're describing, but not quite.'"

“It was like an overnight change… that went on for about a year. So, he didn't follow that more traditional model."

Kendrick - who has not revealed her ex-partner's name - initially thought she was the cause of their relationship problems. However, the Hollywood star finally realized that he was the problem in their relationship.

She explained: "It came out of nowhere, but it was built on the fact that I had so much love and trust for that person, so I thought it had to be me."

"If one of us is crazy, it must be me. So it was very, very difficult to say, 'No, I think this is him. I think they are his problems'. I turned my life upside down trying to fix whatever was wrong with me.”
