Platform X Removes Five Million Accounts From Use, Here's Why

The well-known social media network X (formerly Twitter) led by Elon Musk has published yesterday a report on transparency since the billionaire bought this company. According to the data, due to its content moderation practices, the X network has removed millions of accounts from use in the first half of the year alone.

The platform has suspended approximately 5.3 million accounts, compared to the 1.6 million accounts the company reported suspending in the first half of 2022.

The social media company also "removed or flagged" more than 10.6 million posts for violating the platform's rules, while categorizing five million of them as policy violators due to hate speech.

In a post in April last year, the company said it was asking users to remove 6.5 million posts of content that violated the company's rules, a 29% increase compared to previous years' numbers.

Platform X is currently banned in Brazil due to a dispute between Musk and a Brazilian Supreme Court judge over freedom of speech and disinformation.

When Musk was trying to buy Twitter in 2022, he said he was doing it to get the platform on the right track for free speech.

Recall that the billionaire Musk has fired many staff members and made other changes, leading to a continued withdrawal of celebrities, public figures, organizations and ordinary people from these platforms.
