The head of technology for OpenAi, Mira Murati, has announced her departure from her position after almost seven years of engagement in this company. A post on the X network (formerly Twitter) was enough for her to share with virtually everyone the news of leaving OpenAi.
"It's never the right time to leave a place you value, but again, I feel this is the right decision," says Murati in her post, while sharing one of the most important achievements of this company under her leadership during these years.
"The release of our Open AI o1 speech models marks the beginning of a new era of interaction and intelligence, achievements made possible by your ingenuity and craftsmanship," Murati said in the announcement sent to OpenAI employees.
She emphasized in her announcement that the decision to leave this commitment comes with a personal desire to have more "time and space to explore new things." Murati also added that her focus is also an easy "transition" within the company, especially after her decision to leave Open AI.

Mira Murat's departure follows a series of departures among the company's artificial intelligence (AI) leaders, including founders Ilya Sutskever and John Schulman. OpenAI, the company that owns ChatGPT, is one of the fastest growing companies in the world.
Founded in 2015, OpenAI is an AI-powered research company. The company primarily aims to ensure that artificial intelligence is useful for everyone.
Mira was born in Vlora, grew up in Albania, moved to Canada at the age of 16 (according to Wikipedia). She graduated from Dartmouth University in 2012, majoring in mechanical engineering.
Mira's passion for technology predates her experience at ChatGPT. According to her LinkedIn account, Mira has been in charge of managing the product department, responsible for the Model X at the Tesla company, for 3 years (2013 – 2016). Two years later, in 2018, she also joined the OpenAi team.
ChatGPT was introduced in November 2022, and although some schools in America have banned the use of this innovation, Microsoft itself announced that it would invest a full 10 billion dollars in the company. Whereas, in January, "ChatGPT" was one of the most searched terms on Google, thus surpassing searches for "bitcoin".
