Albania has won an Olympic medal for the first time, thanks to wrestler Chermen Valiev, who won the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The 25-year-old defeated Viktor Rassad, from Tajikistan, in freestyle for the weight up to 74 kg. He managed to give Albania the first medal in the history of our country's participation in a competition of such importance.
Valiev, of Russian origin, will receive a monetary reward from the Albanian state and the rank of Colonel for this achievement.
