Of course, people don't like to be sad, especially crying that generally leaves behind a severe headache, but let's face it, crying is a kind of release. Especially, when it happens in the shower!
One reason why crying in the shower looks so bad is because of the sensory aspect.
"Warm shower water and white noise can be comforting, creating a liberating environment," says psychotherapist Brianna Paruolo.
Not only because the warm water hits your forehead, relieving any possible headache, but the steam from the warm shower frees your breathing and all your senses. So there is no better environment to cry than in the shower.
"On an emotional level, the shower is the perfect private environment to cry without fear of judgment," says Paruolo. "It's a safe space where you can really be alone with your emotions."
It helps people release stress and anxiety, but let's face it, crying is not a fun or pleasant experience.
"But it helps you connect more strongly with your feelings, something healthy and natural for your emotional well-being," she continues.
What matters is that you are allowing yourself to process your emotions. It happens that people like to process their emotions, while bathing, putting conditioner in their hair, treating their body, etc.
