Sugary drinks, such as sodas, energy drinks and sweet teas, can lead to dehydration. Drinks containing fructose and glucose, two types of sugar commonly found in sugary drinks, directly affect the dehydration part. When you drink a sugary drink, your body has to dilute the sugar by pulling water from your tissues, which can lead to dehydration over time.
#2 Caffeinated drinks
First, caffeine has a diuretic effect, meaning it makes you urinate more. But problems arise when caffeine intake is excessive, which can become dehydrating.
#3 Alcohol
Alcohol is another diuretic that makes you go to the bathroom more often because alcohol directly inhibits vasopressin, an antidiuretic hormone that helps retain water. So, if you overdo it with the amount of alcohol, don't be surprised if you end up dehydrated.
#4 Energy drinks
Energy drinks often contain high levels of caffeine and sugar, so both of these ingredients have a double effect on the issue of hydration, thus making it worse. Caffeine increases urination, while sugar can lead to an imbalance in fluid levels.
#5 Fruit juices
Some types of fruit juice have a hydrating effect, such as fresh ones, lemonades, cocktails with fresh fruit, but depending on the amount of fruit you use, you can increase the dosage of sugar. Therefore, if you need to feel hydrated, it is better to consume fresh fruits than squeezed juices.
