Albanian televisions have been filled with different, entertaining, challenging and interesting programs, although not all of them have continued to be broadcast. To awaken your nostalgia, here are some programs that have kept us hostage in front of the TV, but now, in a way, we miss them.
"Your face sounds familiar"
And who can forget Castro Zizo as Azizi? Not once. "Your face sounds familiar" had some iconic moments, some performances stayed in our minds, but it stopped broadcasting. This show first started on March 14, 2016 and only had 2 seasons. The patent for this format was bought by the Spanish show "Tu cara me suena", which was shown for the first time in 2011.
"Who will become a millionaire"
Before you say "I", we remind you that it was a program. This format started on December 15, 2008, under the presentation of Agron Llakaj. Then, it was also moderated by Enkel Demi and had a total of 5 seasons. The show patent was bought from the popular British show, with the original title "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?", licensed to Sony Pictures Television.
"100 million"
"100 million" was broadcast on February 1, 2011 and was moderated by Eno Popi. The game featured a pair of contestants who agreed on the correct answer to a question asked in the program. The original name of the program is "The Million Pound Drop" and it was broadcast all over the world.
"The Voice of Albania"
"The Voice of Albania" followed the tradition of "The Voice" that took place all over the world. The patent was bought by Top Channel. "The Voice" was created by John de Mol and started broadcasting in Albania on October 21, 2011.
"The Voice Kids"
After "The Voice of Albania", there was also a version for talented children. The show started on January 19, 2018. This format was also created by John de Mol, for "The Voice Kids Netherlands".
"Love Story"
"Love Story" is a recreation of "The Bachelor", following the same philosophy. A boy, Saimiri, chooses between 18 girls who aim to steal his heart. The program started on TV Klan, moderated by Alketa Vejsi, in November 2017, but stopped broadcasting after one season.
"Masterchef Albania"
This competition program was adapted from the British format "MasterChef", which was produced by Colosceum Media. The program started broadcasting in 2014, on Top Channel. The program ended its third season in 2016.
"Hell's Kitchen Albania"
This program coincided with a competition between cooks and the patent was taken from the British program of the same name. "Hell's Kitchen Albania" was broadcast on Top Channel in 2018 and ended after 3 seasons on January 2, 2021. The moderator was Renato Mekolli.
"Dance With Me Albania"
This format started in 2014 and ended in the third season, no longer being broadcast. It was moderated by Alketa Vejsiu and the patent is inspired by the very famous show "Dancing with the stars", an American format, which is in its 32nd season. Meanwhile, "Dancing with the stars" is broadcast on Top Channel.
"Love Island"
"Love Island" took place last year, under the moderation of Luana Vjollca on TV Klan. However, there are rumors that the show will not get a second season. "Love Island Albania" has bought the license from the "Love Island" series, which is broadcast in many countries around the world. The program was established in the United Kingdom in 2005.
"X Factor Albania"
"X Factor Albania" returned this year after a long absence. This time the patent was bought by TV Klan, from the British program "The X Factor", created by Simon Cowell. "X Factor Albania" was also bought by Top Channel a few years ago. The original version was first broadcast on September 4, 2004.
"Farm VIP Albania"
"Ferma VIP Albania" is broadcast for the first time in Albania, on Vizion Plus. The program is presented by Fjoralba Ponari. In this reality show, the VIP residents are moved to a farm, away from the usual living conditions. The patent was bought by "The Farm", a format adapted in more than 50 countries in the world. This show, which was created in Sweden, has sold over 100 licenses around the globe.
The longest format in Albania:
First, "Big Brother"
"Big Brother Albania" (with ordinary people) brought to Albania the patent of the Dutch reality show of the same name, created by John de Mol in 1997. The broadcast of the show on Top Channel started on February 28, 2008 and for eight season was presented by Arbana Osmani. One of these seasons was presented by Ledion Liço.
"Big Brother VIP Albania"
"BBVA" is at the end of its third season and while we wait for the winner, we inform you that Top Channel has bought the license from "Big Brother VIP", which was broadcast in the Netherlands on May 22, 2000. Then, the United Kingdom, on the 9 March 2021, adapted the same formula under the name "Celebrity Big Brother".
