What happens to your skin if you don't wash your face every day?

If you ask any dermatologist about the first step of their skin care routine, the answer is likely to be one and only: washing and cleansing! But does the same formula apply as in the morning and in the evening when it comes to washing the face?

"Washing your face in the evening is a step that should never be skipped," says dermatologist Angela Casey. "During the night, our skin undergoes the 'rest and regenerate' phase of the skin's cell cycle." When people don't completely remove impurities , allergens and other irritants from the face at night, they can interfere with the skin's regeneration cycle. But many other people choose to wash and clean their face better in the morning, and they don't even leave the door of the house without skin routine.

No wonder, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, most dermatologists recommend washing it every morning. But, excessive cleaning can strip the skin of the lipids that are its external barrier, thus making the skin more vulnerable to irritation, acne, etc.

It all depends on the skin type

When it comes to a morning skin care routine for people with dry skin, dermatologist Elaine Kung, a dermatologist in New York, says, "A rinse with water in the morning is enough." But even those with mixed or dry skin should always wash their face in the morning.

The climate and where you live have a lot of influence on skin care

Individuals living in hot, humid climates may benefit more from cleansing their face in the morning, while those living in dry, cold climates may skip this routine. It is important to remember that humidity levels change depending on the season. So, while your skin may benefit from skipping a morning cleanse in the winter, this means that in the summer you need to make washing your face every morning a routine.

If you are a person who sweats a lot, be careful!

When sweat mixes with the skin's natural oils and dead skin cells, it can lead to clogged pores. Anyone who trains or does the gym in the morning should wash their face after training, because otherwise sweat and dirt will remain there and block the "ventilation" of this organ. Also, if you are a person who sweats a lot at night, you must clean your face in the morning. Hormonal changes during pregnancy or perimenopause are simultaneously factors that affect not only hot flashes and sweating, but also the condition of your skin.

In short, never skip washing your face in the morning!
