The creator of "Dragon Ball", one of the best-selling and most influential manga in Japan and further in the world, has passed away at the age of 68. Akira Toriyama suffered an acute subdural hematoma, a type of bleeding near the brain, his studio announced.
He passed away on March 1st and the funeral was very private, with only a few friends and family present.
"We hope that the unique world of Akira Toriyama's creativity will continue to be adored by everyone," the studio said.
"Dragon Ball" is one of the most influential comic series in the world, widely known for its animated version. People have paid their tributes to the man who made their childhood more beautiful, in different social networks.
Dragon Ball was created in 1984 and tells the story of a boy named Son Goku who collects the magical dragon spheres in order to protect the Earth from the Saiyans, an alien alliance.
Toriyama was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1955. He debuted in the manga universe with “Dr. Slump” (1980), a manga that tells the story of the little girl Arale and the scientist who created her. However, "Dragon Ball" is his most famous work, which accompanied many people during their childhood. "Dragon Ball" inspired many people to write stories and recreate the looks of famous characters.
