"Cry Me a River", in the version of 2024? Maybe, it could even be like that! Justin Timberlake released yesterday the new song entitled "Drown", a hit which will be part of the artist's new album, "Everythig i thought it was", which will be released on March 15. But, people were not spared comments this time thinking that this new song is a dedication to Britney Spears.
The hit is centered on a love relationship that has gone wrong, especially after the ex talked to her and revealed who they really were as a couple.
Speculations that the song is about Spears, especially after the latter spoke openly in the book "The woman in me" that was published last October, where the artist revealed details of the relationship that ended in separation between her and Justin. The famous couple broke up after rumors that Britney cheated on Timberlake with choreographer Wade Robson.
Justin, of course, has not confirmed whether the song is a dedication to him (he probably never will), but a source told Us Weekly that: "Justin had thought about the fact that Britney would talk about the relationship between them in the book, but in more general terms and not so personal, almost dirty things," he said.
After all the "turbulence" the book brought, Britney publicly apologized to Justin on Instagram saying, "I want to apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book," Spears wrote alongside a video of Timberlake performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "If I've offended any of the people I've loved dearly, I'm truly sorry," Spears continued.
Despite the "turbulence of the waters" that Timberlake's new hit seems to be bringing, people are inclined to think that this is a response from the artist to his ex, Britney Spears.
