The whole world talked about their wedding ceremony, but it seems that not everything was so beautiful and vain, especially a few days before the ceremony. In her latest book, "My mother and I", author Ingrid Seward, the author of the biography of the royal family, says that Princess Diana felt very lonely and isolated before the wedding. In a passage from the publication, published in the Daily Mail, an episode that happened during Prince Andrew's 21st birthday, where Diana was supposed to dance with Prince Charles, was revealed. But, the latter had refused, locking himself in the room because he was too busy with work.
Elton John had been performing throughout the party, while Charles spent the evening working and making sure to talk to as many people on the phone as possible about business matters.
"Diana was in despair. Her fiance, Prince Charles, had spent almost the entire week in America, and when it was time for him to pay attention to dance and enjoy a moment together on his birthday, he chose to lock himself in room," reads the excerpt. "Feeling emotionally drained, the late Diana danced with a casual partner during her birthday," the book's explanation of the situation continues.
In the book, it is said that Diana went to her father's house in Northamptonshire at 5.30am after the party, feeling “disturbed, angry and had no intention of going back. As for Diana, she didn't want to know about her marriage with Charles."

When she explained the decision to her father, Earl Spencer, he was horrified, the book states. After calming her down, he pointed out that breaking off the engagement just before the wedding day was a dishonorable act, especially with the future king of England.
Diana was never fully convinced of her decision, after many bursts of tears and indecision, but it seems that the conversation with her father changed her mind, for one of the most important events that would mark a turning point in her life.
"She couldn't deny that she still wanted to be the Princess of Wales. Although at 19, Diana was too young to believe in a happy ending," Seward wrote.
The story of Princess Diana and King Charles
Diana and King Charles were married on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral in London, five months after announcing their engagement on 24 February 1981. The couple divorced in 1996, a year before Diana died in a car accident in Paris.
The wedding ceremony marked the largest television audience for such an event, being watched by 750 million people in 74 different countries around the world.
