Are you one of those people who prefer strong, black coffee to a cappuccino? Want 90% dark chocolate instead of one with milk or dried fruit? And when you go out for fun dinners, opt for a gin and tonic instead of a sweeter cocktail?
Then, if most of your answers are "Yes", we have bad news!
One study found a link between tasting bitter foods and "psychopathic" personality traits. If you find yourself more oriented towards things that taste bitter, you may discover a dark truth.
People on social media are somewhat shocked after a study was published in recent weeks that examines the food tastes of individuals and the relationship of the latter with personality. Experts said that people who enjoy bitter foods may have a very dark side and may exhibit psychopathic, antisocial and sadistic personality traits.
Researchers from the University of Innsbruck in Austria examined the food tastes of 953 Americans. Participants were asked about preferences for food, sweet, sour, salty, bitter drinks, etc.
The same people were then forced to answer four different surveys assessing antisocial personality traits such as psychopathy, narcissism, aggression and sadism. The results of the study revealed that there was a significant link between "increased enjoyment of bitter foods and increased sadistic tendencies."
Bitter foods included things like gin and tonic, coffee and dark chocolate. These individuals were found to be able to enjoy watching scary movies, while physical fights and acts of torture seemed interesting to them.
