The Palm Springs (California) International Film Festival ceremony kicked off the upcoming series of awards shows, including the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards and Emmy Awards, on January 8, 14 and 15.
"Barbie" director Greta Gerwig was awarded "Director of the Year", Jeffrey Wright received the award for career achievement, while Paul Giamatti grabbed the "Icon Award". The film "Killers of the Flower Moon" was awarded the "Vanguard Award".
Actors Emma Stone (Poor Things) and Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) were both honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award, while Colman Domingo and Danielle Brooks won the Spotlight Award.
