King Charles is facing a bit of a rocky start to 2024 – there are rumors calling for him to abdicate (give up) the throne.

According to Newsweek, there have been calls for Charles to pass the crown to Prince William, demands that have increased since Queen Margrethe II of Denmark abdicated .

Numerous British media outlets have published articles on the matter, including the Guardian which published an article entitled "King Charles must follow Denmark's example - and tell us when he will abdicate".

The calls for the abdication come as the Daily Beast reports that there is some tension between William and Charles - because
William wants more control.

Charles became king after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022. At the age of 73, he became the oldest person to sit on the British throne. His coronation was held on May 6, 2023.
