A woman identified as Bedrie Loka, mother of four children, ended her life in the village of Sukth in Durrës by drinking phostoxin.
The reason for the fatal end of the 41-year-old, according to family members, but also the reaction of the Durrës police, was the publication of several montage videos, with the photograph of the deceased and a derogatory language and hatred towards her. The latter could not cope with the pressure and decided to end her life in a tragic way by drinking phostoxin.
The serious event, which received a lot of media attention, happened yesterday, which in fact should have been a day of celebration for the deceased and her family, as it was her daughter's birthday. The shocking details come from a relative of Bedrie, who stayed by her side in the hospital in the last hours of her life. A few minutes before she passed away, Bedria wished her daughter on her birthday and it seems that this was her last message.
The deceased worked for several years in a rope production factory in Sukth, Durrës, while her husband was a seasonal worker in Greece. The latter came to the family for the festive days and after the serious event reacted by giving his testimony.
He suspects that the photos were distributed by the deceased's cousin. In fact, in December of last year, another denunciation was registered with the Durrës police for the opening of a fake profile in the name of Bedries.
In relation to this report, the police stated that they have referred the case to the prosecutor's office, while family members and managers of the factory where the deceased worked give another version of the incident. They say that a conflict with colleagues at the workplace caused this whole story.
Family members and relatives of the deceased have said that the case was closed after the dismissal of the employees involved in this case, after a banal conflict started at the workplace.
For the event in question, many Albanian public figures have reacted, recently also the minister Taulant Balla and Elisa Spiropali with the call to stop the language of violence and hatred towards women as soon as possible.
The prosecutor's office has started investigations to clarify this case and bring to justice the persons who misused the data of the deceased, while the civil society has announced holding a protest the next day.
