The world of Chinese chess has been shaken by a scandal that has caused quite a stir. The national champion was stripped of his title after his post-victory party ended with him defecating in the hotel bathtub.
Xiangqi, or Chinese chess, has been extremely popular for hundreds of years throughout Asia. 48-year-old Yan Chenglong defeated dozens of contenders last week to win the title of "Xiangqi King" in a national tournament organized by the Chinese Xiangqi Association.
But his joy was short-lived. The CXA reports that Yan would be stripped of his title and have his prize money confiscated after he was caught "disrupting public order" and displaying "extremely bad character".
According to reports circulating on the Chinese social network Weibo, Yan allegedly cheated during competitions by using anal beads equipped with wireless, which send and receive signals. It is thought that he rhythmically clenched and unclenched the rings to communicate information about the chessboard through vibrations.
"It is currently impossible to prove whether Yan cheated through anal rings," the chess association clarified. But he was stripped of his title and banned from playing for a year.
"Yan consumed alcohol with others in his room and then defecated in the bathtub of the room where he was staying, an act that damaged hotel property, violated public order and morals and adversely affected the competition," the association said. .
