Actress Melissa Barrera addressed the comments for which she was fired from the cast of "Scream 7". Through a post published on Instastory, the actress wrote:
"First and foremost, I condemn anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. I condemn any hatred and prejudice against any group of people. As a proud Latina and Mexican, I feel the responsibility I have for the platform that allows me the privilege to be heard, and so I have tried to use it to raise awareness about issues that interest me and direct my voice to those in need," referred people in Gaza.
Further, he continued:
"Every person on this Earth - regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and social and economic status - deserves equal human rights, dignity and of course, freedom", adding that he prays day and night so that there is no more death, violence and that the two peoples coexist in peace.
Despite being fired from her role in the movie "Scream 7", Melissa said that she will continue to speak out for those who need it most and that she will continue to advocate for peace, security, as well as for human rights and freedom.
"Silence is not an option for me," said Melissa.
"Scream VI" star Melissa Barrera, who was set to star in the upcoming "Scream VII" film, was fired from the film on Tuesday over several social media posts that were interpreted as anti-Semitic.
"I also come from a colonized country. Palestine will be free. They tried to bury us, but they didn't know that we were seeds", was one of the posts that brought measures against her and exclusion from the cast of the film.
Barrera has shown her support for Palestine on Instagram and stated that Israel is committing "genocide" and "brutal killing of innocent Palestinians, mothers and children, under the pretext of destroying Hamas."
