Mira Murati, who led the team that created ChatGPT, is the new CEO of OpenAI. The organization in question was founded in 2015 and aims to ensure the usefulness and positive effects of artificial intelligence.
The board of this company decided to dismiss the previous CEO, Sam Altman, for the reason that he has not been transparent with the board, not fulfilling his duties. Details about his dismissal are not yet known.
Thus, through a statement, the company announced that Altman's duties will pass to Mira Murat, who will be in charge temporarily:
"OpenAI's board of directors, which acts as the overall governing body for all OpenAI activities, announced today that Sam Altman will step down as CEO and step down from the board of directors. Mira Murati, the company's chief technology officer, will serve as interim CEO, effective immediately," the board said.
Founded in 2015, OpenAI is an AI-powered research company. The company primarily aims to ensure that artificial intelligence is useful for everyone.
Mira was born in Vlora, grew up in Albania, moved to Canada at the age of 16 (according to Wikipedia). She graduated from Dartmouth University in 2012, majoring in mechanical engineering.
Mira's passion for technology predates her experience at ChatGPT. According to her LinkedIn account, Mira has been in charge of managing the product department, responsible for the Model X at the Tesla company, for 3 years (2013 – 2016).
2 years later, in 2018, she also joined the OpenAi team.
ChatGPT was introduced in November 2022, and although some schools in America have banned the use of this innovation, Microsoft itself announced that it would invest a full 10 billion dollars in the company. Whereas, in January, "ChatGPT" was one of the most searched terms on Google, thus surpassing searches for "bitcoin".
