Children who spend time with grandparents are happier and more secure

If you were lucky enough to spend time with your grandparents growing up, you probably have great memories if you go back in time. The detail that you may not have understood while growing up is that spending time with them has "equipped" you with the ability to be more confident and happy people.
Now, there is even scientific data to support this theory!

Although parents think that leaving children with grandparents for a long time makes them more spoiled and unprepared for life, science says otherwise. According to a study conducted by the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, children who have close relationships with their grandparents tend to have fewer problems, both emotionally and with their behavior. In addition, these children have fewer difficulties when interacting with peers.

The study, completed by pedagogue Ann Buchanan from the Department of Social Policy and Intervention, surveyed more than 1,500 children and showed that the increased involvement of grandparents in the lives of grandchildren can be crucial in a child's development. Additionally, the study found that as grandparents take on a more nurturing role, they become mentors to their grandchildren.

"If parents regularly include grandparents in children's lives, the latter can develop real emotional closeness with the grandparent and begin to see the grandparent as a source of strong social support," said psychotherapist Kimberly Agresta.

"Grandparents are not responsible for disciplining or raising the child, but for loving them as they are able to love the child more freely and unconditionally," Agresta explained. Source:
