Sinéad O'Connor told the children what to do if she was found dead

Sinéad O'Connor knew the value of her musical legacy.

In a 2021 interview with People magazine to promote her memoir, "Rememberings," O'Connor said she had explained to her children the importance of protecting music and finances.

To that end, she said she told them to call her accountant before calling the police if she was ever found dead.

"Look, when artists are dead, they're a lot more valuable than when they're alive," she said. "Tupac has released far more albums since his death than he ever did alive."

"That's why I've always instructed my kids since they were very young: 'If I die tomorrow, before you call 911, call my accountant and make sure the music studios don't start releasing my songs and you not knowing where the money goes," she explained.

The Irish singer died this week after being found unconscious in a London home. She was 56 years old. No cause of death has been released.

O'Connor was the mother of four children. Her 17-year-old son Shane died last year.
