We explain Diola Dosti's viral statement: 'I got pregnant after

Nutritionist Diola Dosti surprised quite a few viewers with her statement, when she said in "S'e luan topi" that she became pregnant after trying cannabis oil.

"I've tried cannabis, within the countries where it's allowed to be tried, but I've never smoked it in my life. It's been in an oily form, a medicinal oil. I've read that it increases creativity," she said.

"I got pregnant when I tried it. So there was an effect on this side. I hadn't read that it had an aphrodisiac effect (a food, drink or something else that stimulates sexual desire) so I wasn't going to try it. It had this effect on me. We always talk about that medicine," he then added.

What does science say?

Medical (medicinal) cannabis refers to the use of cannabis or its components for therapeutic purposes, usually to treat certain specific medical conditions or to relieve symptoms. To date, there is no reliable medical evidence for any possible link between cannabis and fertility. However, there are some factors to consider.

Medical cannabis products can contain varying levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). THC is the psychoactive compound responsible for the high  that cannabis causes, while CBD is non-psychoactive and is believed to have potential therapeutic benefits. The effect on fertility may vary depending on the ratio of THC to CBD in the product.

Some studies suggest that the use of cannabis, even for medicinal purposes, can affect ovulation and the regularity of menstruation in women. Changes in the menstrual cycle can affect the ability to get pregnant.

For men, the use of medicinal cannabis can adversely affect sperm and fertility factors.

If medicinal cannabis is used in conjunction with other medications, there is a possibility of reactions that may affect fertility.
