Alan Arkin, winner of the Oscar for the film "Little Miss Sunshine", has passed away at the age of 89. The news was announced by his sons, Adam, Matthew and Anthony.
 
Arkin has made a major contribution to cinema and won a Tony Award for his performance in Enter Laughing, then a Drama Desk Award for directing Little Murders.
 
Arkin also directed the original version of Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys.
 
The actor won an Oscar for the film "Little Miss Sunshine", and was nominated for the Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG awards.
