Kurt Cobain's damaged guitar, signed by himself and other Nirvana members in silver ink, sold for almost $600,000, surpassing the auction's expectations.

Julien's Auctions originally listed the guitar for $60,000 and was expecting a top price of $80,000, but surprises do happen. The identity of the buyer has remained anonymous.

The guitar was damaged after Kurt slammed it on stage, a gesture they often did. He then gifted the guitar to Mark Lanegan in 1992. If you're wondering how much damage the guitar has suffered, we can say that it has been assembled but is no longer in working order. :(
