A Michigan community is praising a seventh-grader who took control of a school bus after the driver lost consciousness and the bus nearly crashed, according to local authorities.
Dillon Reeves, who must be 12-13 years old, was returning from school after finishing classes at Carter Middle School in Warren, north of Detroit. As they were returning, the bus driver announced that she felt "dizzy" and asked that another driver be sent. But he lost consciousness without being able to stop the bus.
At this time, Dillon goes to the front, immediately hits the brakes to slow the bus down, and puts it in a safe zone. During this time, he does not hit any other car.
After stopping the bus, he asked his schoolmates to call 911. The driver was taken to the hospital, while authorities at the school and the entire community praised Dillon's response for preventing what could have been a tragic accident.
