
Italy is the first western country to block advanced chatbot ChatGPT, following concerns about user privacy. The Italian Data Protection Authority said the program violated the privacy of people who chose to ask questions of the intelligent chatbot.
Italian authorities have said that they would not only block OpenAI's chatbot, but would also investigate whether it complied with the General Data Protection Regulation in order to know whether it is safe to use the intelligent platform, added that on March 20, the platform had committed a data breach that compromised user conversations. Then, they said that there is no legal basis that justifies "the massive collection and storage of personal data, for the purpose of training the algorithms underlying the operation of the platform".
Another concern is that even age verification. Since the platform has no way to verify the age of users, there is a risk of exposing minors to inappropriate responses, compared to their level of development and awareness.
Since the creation of ChatGPT in November 2022, some concerns have been raised that artificial intelligence will cut jobs and replace the contribution of people in companies.
