Jennifer Aniston: "An entire generation of people" finds

"An entire generation" now finds Friends offensive, said Jennifer Aniston, the actress who shot to fame on the hit 90s sitcom.

In an interview with Variety, Aniston said that creativity in comedy has become increasingly difficult, as comedians are now "not allowed" to "make fun of life".

"Now it's a little tricky because you have to be very careful, which makes it really difficult for comedians because the beauty of comedy is that we make fun of ourselves, we make fun of life," Aniston said.

"There's a whole generation of people, kids, who are now going back to episodes of 'Friends' and finding them offensive," she said.

"There were things that were never intentional and stuff…well, we should have thought about it…but I don't think there was the sensitivity back then like there is now."

Some viewers have criticized "Friends" for its lack of diversity. All the main characters are white and the series rarely features people of color. Others have noted jokes that are now considered homophobic or transphobic.

Aniston is not alone among comedians or actors in suggesting that progressivism and sensitivity to such topics have become barriers to creativity. Comedians, including Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, have recently criticized woke culture (being alert to racial prejudice and discrimination) for limiting jokes.
