The Weeknd will now be seen in a movie, alongside Jenna Ortega and Bafta-winning actor Barry Keoghan.
Although not much is known about the film yet, it has been exclusively revealed by Deadline that the "Blinding Lights" singer is also the screenwriter of the film in collaboration with Trey Edward Shults, who is best known for directing "It Comes At Night".
After working on the production for several months, Ortega and Keoghan are said to have been "surprised" by the script.
While the story of the film - and even the title - have been kept under wraps - it has also been revealed that The Weeknd will also record a song for the film's soundtrack.
The singer will also appear in the HBO series "The Idol" with Lily-Rose Depp, whose trailer has been released:

And while Abel (real name The Weeknd) is exploring cinematography, he continues to be just as successful in music.
The "Save Your Tears" singer has made history as the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly streams on Spotify, just days after releasing a remix of "Die For You" featuring Ariana Grande.
