Ed Sheeran has released the trailer for the new album "Subtract" and in the cover photo, it is the artist himself underwater, thus signifying "the deepest and darkest thoughts". He talked about his pregnant wife's tumor, the death of a close friend and the trial in which he was involved.

"I worked with Subtract for a decade, trying to create the perfect acoustic album, writing and recording hundreds of songs with a clear vision of what they would be like. Then, at the beginning of 2022, a series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately, the way I see music and art," said the singer.

"Writing songs is my therapy. It helps me clarify my feelings. I wrote them without thinking about how the songs will be. And, for just one week, I replaced a decade of work with the deepest thoughts and feelings. "In one month, my pregnant wife found out she had a tumor and it couldn't be cured until she gave birth," he said, referring to his wife and mother of his children, Cherry Seaborn.

“My close friend, Jamal, who was like a brother to me, died suddenly and I found myself in court, defending my integrity and career as a lyricist. I was engulfed in a spiral of fear, depression and anxiety", added the 32-year-old artist, thus mentioning the court case and accusation of plagiarism for the song "Shape of You".

Sheeran added that this album symbolizes his emotions and the period when he felt like he was drowning. He showed that this creation is a window into the soul of the artist and an honest and true view of his life. The album will be released on 05/05/2023 and we can't wait to hear it.
