Marco Mengoni was declared the winner of the 73rd Sanremo Festival with his song "Due vite" (Two lives).
For the super-final, voting consisted of televoting, jury and online polls. Marco managed to grab first place. In second place was Lazza with "Cenere" and in third, Mr. Rain with the song "Supereroi".
Marco Mengoni is an Italian singer who gained fame after being declared the winner of the third season of "X Factor" in 2009. He has competed in Sanremo two more times, in 2010 (the song "Believe me again") and 2013. In 2013, he won the 63rd edition of Sanremo with the song "L'essenziale" and represented Italy at Eurovision, where he placed seventh.

"Due vite" is a song about the complexity of life and how people deal with its ups and downs; a song about life's struggles and dynamics. "It is my fruitless story because it is the story of a relationship between the unconscious and reality," said Mengoni.
"I realize that my unconscious gives me a more realistic feeling than everyday life. In the song, I tell about this double life: that of night and dreams that become more real than the dreams I live every day. […] I am a sinner, I am the one who makes mistakes. There are slaps and you have to move forward in life.”
