Women have long been led to believe that the conversation about aging should be avoided at all costs – whether it's the result of relentless marketing focus on "fading" wrinkles, or compliments like "you don't look your age at all."
Therefore, it is always interesting to hear when there are different points of view and what is said out loud. Kate Winslet, one of the biggest stars of Hollywood has a very good experience over the years.
"Women go into their 40s and think 'okay, this is the beginning of the decline'. They think things start to change and fade in directions they don't want. But I've decided, no! It doesn't have to be that way. In we become more feminine, more powerful, sexier. We are no longer afraid of what people think of us. We no longer care so much about how we look. This particular phase of life, I would say, is amazing!" she told Women's Hour on the BBC.
It is not the first time that Winslet has argued the issue of the advantages of aging.
At the beginning of the year, in a campaign for L'Oréal, she emphasized that "happiness has nothing to do with appearance", even if social networks are convincing us of this.
Last year she told women trying to copy Hollywood stars:
"It's all a myth! "For me, the secret to aging at any age, Hollywood or not, is actually accepting who you are and accepting that we can't fight change. Beauty comes from within and is reflected on the outside, regardless of age."
As cliche as these words may sound to you, imagine how nice it would be if all 47-year-olds thought like this. One thing is for sure, they would all look 100 times more radiant!
