Director James Cameron is encouraging cinemagoers to take short bathroom breaks during the premiere of his new film Avatar: The Way of Water. This, because the film will last 2 hours and 40 minutes.
But why is the movie so long?
The director said that his goals for the film also influenced its length:
"The goal is to tell an incredibly compelling story on an emotional basis. I would say that the emphasis in the new film is more on character, more on story, more on relationships, more on emotions. We didn't spend as much time on the relationship and the emotions in the first movie as we did in the second movie, and of course it's a longer movie because there are more characters. There's more story to tell."
The new film will be released on December 16, 2022 and will take place 10 years after the first film.
