Drew Barrymore has shared her perspective on love and sex post-divorce. She wrote on her blog to clear up a misconception about sex.
"I went to an exercise class and this woman said, 'You look like Drew Barrymore, except you look like you have mental health and besides...she hates sex!'" Barrymore wrote.
"I didn't know what this woman was talking about," she continued. “Then a few days later, I found out that somehow a comment I had made on the show about how to give up sex for six months just didn't seem very long to me, because at my age and with my life experience, it just didn't. "
Barrymore said the conversation came about because a famous actor she didn't name said he "gave up sex for six months as part of a role he was working on."
At 48, Barrymore has "very different feelings about intimacy."
"I'm at a completely different point in my life and maybe in the near future I will get into a relationship...but it just hasn't been my priority," Barrymore wrote. "So I'm not a person who needs sex and needs to go out and connect with people on that level."
She also said she hates sex. "So I don't hate sex!" Barrymore wrote. "Love and sex are not the same thing. I have sought all my life to be a quiet woman and not a bombastic girl."
