Prime Minister Edi Rama gave an interview for the radio show by Alaister Campbell and Rory Stewart. ( via euronews.al )
He spoke, among other things, about the relationship with his father, Kristaq Rama, a sculptor of socialist realism, who studied in Moscow, returned to Albania and made sculptures of socialist heroes.
The Prime Minister said that his father was an official of the regime. He commented on his sculptures, stressing that from a professional point of view they deserve respect, but from the ideological point of view and the method used, Rama was completely opposed.
"I had a strong relationship with my father, but also with great influence. I didn't like the things he did and he didn't want me to do the things I did because he was afraid it would end badly. But I value this relationship very much because he was a liberal man. He never tried to impose anything on me, for me to do anything," said the Prime Minister.
Kristaq Rama died at the age of 66 as a result of a fatal heart attack.
