After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, her eldest son Charles has become king. He will be known as King Charles III.
The Queen became the sixth woman to ascend the British throne in February 1952, following the death of her father, King George VI. She was the longest-serving monarch in British history, serving for more than 70 years.
King Charles was the British monarch who waited the longest to ascend the throne; he was an heir from the age of 3. Charles is 73 years old.
Now that he has ascended the throne, he automatically puts his eldest son, Prince William, first in line. Prince William is the member of the family who has achieved the highest educational degree - Master of Arts - and served in the army from 2006 to 2013.
After William, his children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis come in line.
