Why moles appear and when to check some of them

The skin is the largest organ of our body and like any other organ it also gives signs which you need to read correctly. Moles are one of them. By paying attention to moles from the moment they appear to the shape or color they take, you can learn a lot about the health of the body.

First of all, you should know what moles are and why they appear on our body

Moles are considered skin growths (extensions) and can vary in different shapes/colors. They can appear anywhere on the skin, alone or in groups with others.

When the skin's pigment-producing cells, called melanocytes, grow in clusters, instead of being spread across the surface, they form what we call moles. Most of them appear on those parts of our body that are most exposed to sunlight. Therefore, it is possible that the more time you spend in the sun, the more moles you will have.

Most moles appear during childhood and up to the age of 20. When you enter the "adult" status it is normal to have between 10-40 moles on your body. In some cases they are accompanied by hair, or they can change over time in color, size or shape. In other cases, they never change.

When should you look carefully and check them?

In fact, most moles are benign, but sometimes it is necessary to take a little care by looking at them closely, just to make sure everything is ok. Use a mirror to observe, especially in places where you are constantly exposed to the sun.

In which case should you go to a dermatologist?

- When moles start, they look different than they did before

- When young people appear after 30

- When they look irritated or blood comes out all of a sudden

- Their color has changed

-The shape is strange and the difference is obvious
