After receiving a lot of reactions and criticism because she said she doesn't like the word "lesbian", Jojo Siwa decided to clarify her comments on TikTok.
In a video posted on July 29, the 19-year-old explained why she prefers the term "gay" to "lesbian" in relation to her sexuality.
Her preference isn't as serious as fans first thought: the Dance Moms star says she "just doesn't like the sound of the word 'lesbian,'" and added that she would never call "lesbian" a "dirty word" because " Its not"."
It all started when Yahoo! Life published an interview with Siwa on July 25 that drew criticism from some people. In the interview, Siwa spoke about identifying as LGBTQ+ after publicly admitting it in January 2021 and made comments about preferring not to use the term "lesbian".
"I don't like the word itself," she said. Kind of like the word "moist." Ugh."
Unfortunately, that quote was misinterpreted and people thought she was negativeizing the term lebsian and not just the way the word sounded. Of course!
