Britney Spears fans were shocked when they heard the singer's "real" voice for the first time. In a video posted on Instagram, Britney is heard singing a different version of the 1998 hit, "Baby One More Time."
Britney started singing the a cappella version while doing laundry at home recently and decided to share the video with fans on Instagram. "I haven't shown my voice in an extremely long time, maybe too long and here I am in my house singing another version of 'Baby'."
Spears explained that she had tried to release a new version, but was unable to due to various personal and professional constraints. "They broke me down, shamed me and made me feel like absolutely nothing!!!"
According to Mark Hughes, author of "Buzzmarketing: Get People To Talk About Your Stuff," Spears' voice used to be much lower than what she's known for.
"When she first entered the recording studio for the Jive Records recording sessions, Britney Spears' voice was much deeper than the voice she is very familiar with today," he said. It is said that it was producer Eric Foster White who worked with Spears to create the sound that made her famous.
Many people were delighted to hear Britney's true and natural voice and in many comments they are begging her to release the new version of "Baby One More Time". "So incredible to hear your real voice," someone wrote.
"I love your natural voice, but I love seeing you more comfortable showing it off to the world," said another.
