Through a post on social media, Federico Lucia - better known as Fedez - confessed to followers that he was diagnosed with a disease, seemingly not easy. Although the rapper did not provide further details about the illness, previous interviews may reveal more information about his condition.
"They found something called demyelination in my head. "I am at risk of multiple sclerosis," Fedez said in 2019 on "La Confessione" on the Nove channel in Italy.
On Instagram recently, Fedez said that fortunately the situation was discovered at an early stage. He added that he has read stories of other people which have given him strength.
Demyelination occurs when myelin, which is the protective covering of nerve cells, is damaged. When this happens, neurological problems can occur. Not everyone is affected in the same way. However, some symptoms are very common, such as vision loss, bladder or bowel problems, unusual nerve pain, and fatigue.
Nerves are a key part of body functions, so a wide range of symptoms can occur when nerves are affected by demyelination, including: numbness, loss of reflexes and uncoordinated movements, blurred vision, dizziness, memory problems, pain etc.
Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune condition that attacks the brain, spinal cord and optic nerve. There are four main directions of the disease that predict how fast it will progress. The most common symptoms are: extreme tiredness, vision problems, movement problems and tingling, burning or other strange sensations.
There is no cure for this condition, but medications can reduce the symptoms. Plus, there are many treatments and techniques to keep them under control. Diagnosis at an early stage helps a lot.
