Tom Ford laughed a lot when he saw 'House of Gucci', but not for good

Designer Tom Ford said he "laughed out loud" as he watched the House of Gucci.

Although he praised Lady Gaga's performance as Patrizia Reggiani and Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci, Tom Ford, who was Gucci's artistic director between 1994 and 2004, was fierce in his criticism of the film.

"Finally, I survived a 2 hour and 37 minute movie that is 'House of Gucci,'" he said. "The movie is, well I'm not very sure what exactly it is, but somehow it seemed to me like I had survived a hurricane when I left the cinema. Was it a farce or a creepy tale of greed? I often laughed out loud, but should I do it? ”

After seeing the film, Ford said he was "deeply sad for a few days" and that it was hard to understand the humor. "I doubt it will be a hit." According to Ford, it is enough to mention the name Gucci and everything goes. In fact, he is right. Sales of Gucci clothing have increased by 73% since the release of the film.

Ford, who started his own company in 2005 after leaving Gucci, and later directed "A Single Man" and "Nocturnal Animals," praised some aspects of the film. He applauded "the performance of Gaga and Adam Driver, powerful portrayals by the entire cast, costumes, stunning sets".

Today, the Gucci family issued a statement calling the film "an insult to the legacy on which the brand is built today."
