The third song from Adele's latest album, "30", includes an audio recording of Adele trying to explain her son's divorce. In "My Little Love", Adele says she feels a little confused. "Mom has had a lot of strong feelings lately," she says.
When his son, Angelo, asks him why, his mother replies, "It seems to me that I do not really know what I am doing."
"Oh, fare?" he asks with a British accent. "Fare," Adele replies.
Later, she explains to her son, "I love your father because he brought you to me. You are my half and my father's half."
The lyrics to "My Little Love" are probably even more heartbreaking when Adele sings to the boy, "I know you feel lost / It's completely my fault."
I do not know myself in the cold of the day
So I'm not surprised you can read all my lies I
feel so bad to be here when I'm so guilty
I'm running so far away that you're the only one who can save me
Angelo turned 9 in October. It is unclear when the music superstar recorded the conversation.
For Vogue, Adele explained the decision to include personal voice recordings on the latest album: “I thought it might be a nice approach, seeing that everyone has been at my door for the last 10 years, as a fan, to pass in 'Would you like to go inside?' "
The album as a whole aims to answer some questions that Angelo may have about his parents when he grows up.
Adele, 33, and ex-husband Simon Konecki, 47, announced their separation in April 2019 and she filed for divorce in September. The divorce was finalized in March this year.
