Alec Baldwin on the tragedy in the shooting: 'One in a trillion

Alec Baldwin considered the fatal murder of his girlfriend Halyna Hutchins "one in a trillion events".

Alec Baldwin, 63, and his wife Hilaria Baldwin, 37, spoke to the cameras for the first time since the fatal murder of filmmaker Halyna Hutchins during the filming of "Rust." "It's an active investigation into the death of a woman, she was my friend," Alec told reporters.

"We were a very, very good team shooting a movie together and then this horrible event happened," he continued. "There are occasional accidents on movie sets from time to time, but nothing like this. "This is a one-in-a-trillion episode."

Alec noted that he was "extremely interested" in restricting the use of firearms in filming after fatal shootings.

"But remember how many bullets have been fired at movies and TV shows in the last 75 years. This is America, "he said." How many bullets have been used in movies and television in the past? How many billions in the last 75 years? And almost all without incident. "When things go wrong and this is a terrible, catastrophic thing, some new measures have to be taken. Rubber guns, plastic guns, no bullets - no real weapons in the square."

On October 21, the actor was filming several scenes for the movie "Rust" in New Mexico, when he pointed a gun. Halyna died after the incident, while the director, Joel Souza, was injured.
