Alec Baldwin talks about tragedy: 'There are no words to convey my shock

After the tragic incident that took the life of filmmaker Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza, actor Alec Baldwin posted a statement on Twitter about the serious event during the shooting of the movie "Rust".

"There are no words to convey my shock and grief over the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, an extremely admired woman, mother and colleague. I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy happened and I am in contact with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. I am heartbroken for her husband, their son and all those who knew and loved Halyna. ”

On Thursday night, the Santa Fe sheriff's office confirmed that Baldwin fired a "prop gun" - a weapon used in movies, series, theaters - that killed Hutchins.

According to eyewitnesses, the actor was seen worried and with tears in his eyes and shouted asking why they gave him a "hot gun" - a weapon with real ammunition. "In all my career, I have never been given a real weapon," Baldwin said repeatedly, according to the witness.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident and no arrests have been made. According to the sheriff's office, an "open and active" investigation remains and they are continuing to interview witnesses.
