It can be hard to hear your baby screaming, but a new study suggests letting your baby cry alone can be helpful and not as scary as it sounds.
1. No adverse effects
A study conducted by The Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry found that leaving babies crying has no negative consequences. During the experiment, no behavioral effects on infant development were found. Moreover, this did not worsen the mother's relationship with the baby in any way.
2. They sleep better
One study found that babies who are left to cry at night show better sleep patterns. In the experiment, the infants were divided into 2 groups and the infants from the group that were left to cry woke up less and generally slept faster.
3. Babies develop self-control
Not reacting immediately to your baby's needs can teach them to calm down on their own. Dieter Wolke, the professor who led the first study, advises against the intervention. He says babies need some time just to learn to calm down. Once taught, they are able to self-regulate not only during the day but also at night.
4. As we said: Babies develop the ability to calm themselves
6. Mësojnë të flenë vetë
After practicing calming themselves for some time, children do not find it difficult to fall asleep when they wake up at night. No need for petting, shaking or parental help. Babies can cry at night simply because they need a parent nearby, just to be safe, but nothing more.
