Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, have been sued by a woman whom Petty was accused of raping in 1994.
The woman, now 43, claimed to have been stabbed when she was 16 in Queens, New York City, by Petty. He was arrested on suspicion of rape, found guilty of attempted rape and served four and a half years in prison.
Recently, the victim has filed a lawsuit claiming that Minaj and Petty, who have an 11-month-old son, threatened her to give up the story. Nicki is accused of contacting the victim's family and lying to her followers on social media. The lawsuit alleges that the rapper offered the woman $ 500,000 to close the story.
After Petty, 43, was arrested in March 2020 after failing to register in the California registry related to sexual abusers, it is alleged that the victim was contacted by a childhood friend who acted as a mediator between her and Minaj.
He gave Nicki the woman's number and the rapper allegedly called her and offered to send her and her family to Los Angeles if she could “help.” The woman reportedly declined the offer. Nicki's offer to withdraw the rape charge.
In the lawsuit filed in court, it is written that the woman and her family have been threatened and contacted by many people. The rapper also reportedly promised to send $ 20,000 and a video message to the victim's 16-year-old daughter as a "bonus".
The lawsuit says the woman has not worked since May 2020 "due to severe depression, paranoia, harassment and threats" by Minaj, Petty and their associates. It is reported that she is living isolated in Florida for fear of retaliation.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. The legal team of Nicki and her husband has not yet been contacted.
