Is it possible for the vagina to be tight?

If you have experienced pain or discomfort during penetration, you may worry that your vagina is too small or too tight for sex. The truth is not so. With rare exceptions, almost no vagina is too tight for sex. Sometimes, however, you need to prepare a little more for penetration.

In its normal state, the vagina is 7-10 cm long. This may not seem long enough for some penises or sex toys. But when you get aroused, the vagina lengthens and expands and also releases a natural lubricant.

If you experience pain or difficulty with penetration, it could be a sign that you are not excited enough, not that you are too tight.

How does the vagina change? The vagina changes a lot during a person's lifetime. It is created to have sex and give birth to children and both moments change the shape and tightness of the vagina.

It may happen that due to the lack of natural lubrication, sex is painful, but this has nothing to do with the tight vagina. It is advisable to have prelude and use water-based lubricants.

During childbirth, the vagina expands to enable the baby to be born. The natural shape and elasticity of the vagina changes throughout life. This means you can try new sexual positions or strengthen your pelvic floor muscles.

If you think the vagina is too tight, the reason may be related to:

- lack of excitement or insufficient lubrication
- infection or disorder
- injury or trauma
- anomaly
- vaginismus

If such a sensation is frequent, you should consult a specialist.
