"Deadly Illusions" focuses on the married couple Mary and Tom Morrison, who hire a new nanny, Grace. The case of the Turpin family
The Turpin family was placed in the spotlight of police and the public in 2018 as a serious case of child abuse. On Jan. 14, a child from the Turpin family escaped from the home of David and Louise Turpin in Perris, California and contacted police, who then raided the home and found disturbing evidence of prolonged abuse and torturous living conditions.
David and Louise Turpin saw themselves as followers of the Quiverfull movement - a theological attitude that sees children as a blessing from God and encourages birth - and Pentecostalism, the latter a Protestant Christian movement that emphasizes direct personal experience with God through baptism with The Holy Spirit. According to David's parents, the couple had children because God wanted them to. From 1988 to 2015 they had ten daughters and three sons. All child names start with the letter "J".
