Scoliosis is one of the various words that people can use to describe their sexual orientation. The term refers to someone who is attracted to a person who is identified as transgender, non-binary (who is not identified with either male or female sex) and in some cases, by anyone who is not a cisgenger (a person, gender and identity of which matches his sex at birth), explains Carmel Jones, a relationship and sex trainer.
Usually, but not always, someone who identifies as scoliosissexual is himself transgender or non-binary.
Why is scoliosis not preferred to be used as a term?
In the LGBTQ + community there is often debate as to whether scoliosis is the right word to use for someone with these sexual preferences. The reason is the fact that "scolio" means "crooked" in Latin and this may mean that it is not "normal, or right" for someone to have these preferences.
The term that best replaces the word, is "ceterosexual", which is actually used to denote a person whose gender is "indefinite" and who is attracted to other such people.
From Latin, cetero - means "others, the rest".
